Pressure Transmitters for Water & Pump Applications
VFD booster pumps, municipal pump houses, water distribution networks & pressure boosting skids
Why Standard Catalog Sensors Often Fail in this Application
Pumps starting and stopping frequently cause severe hydraulic transients (water hammer). In VFD systems, rapid response and electrical noise immunity from variable speed motor drives are mandatory.
What to Specify When Ordering for this Process
- Select internal pulse snubber / damping orifice if pumps start without soft-starters
- Use 4–20 mA current loop for long runs back to the control panel or PLC
- Select 0.5–4.5 V ratiometric for compact OEM pump controller boards
- Specify 1/4" BSP (G1/4) male process connection for standard pump manifold ports
When mounting directly on the pump discharge manifold, position the sensor on a vertical pipe section or with an inverted siphon (pigtail) to minimize trapped air pockets and direct pump vibration.
